Character Details
Physical Description:* With a small and frail looking figure, coupled with her strange choice of dress and a slightly timid seeming attitude to match, Keisei appears very un-shinobi like when compared to the other members of her clan and village. Although most of this assumption holds true, once a unsuspecting victim has fallen in to Keisei's grasp, this appears to be quite a bad guess on their part. Keisei's dressings and style are as much of a ruse as they are personal choice, designed to both allow her to feel comfortable while allowing her to surprise her enemies should they take her far too lightly. Her appearance has been remarked to be as beautiful as any other girl in the village, upkept and polished with her skills in Geisha art forms. Her long, raven black hair is smooth as silk. It shines like the brightest form of the purest ebony jewel and cascades down her shoulders like a dark fall. She keeps it very clean and tame, well combed and treated with special mixtures. She is very hygienic, and dislikes dirt and mud to a great degree. Her skin is pretty pale, although not something unexpected for one who spends most of their time inside the depths of Otogakure no Sato, or the normally dark tavern buildings around Ta no Kuni. Her form isn't quite apparent, although she doesn't much care for it, concerned with sprucing up other more important aspects of her beauty.

Clothing worn:* When on a mission or simply casually wandering through town or the halls of Otogakure no Sato, Keisei wears a rather traditional and simple garment, although not very shinobi like. Keisei's clothing consists of a black, mostly form tight kimono, save for the areas above the waist, held shut with a yellow and pink obi (or sash). The kimono extends to about ankle length. Beneath the kimono, Keisei wears a common undergarment which is traditionally worn with kimonos, a thin, white form fitting under kimono held shut with a white obi. This kimono is known as a juban, and save for a small area at the sleeves and the neck, it remains mostly unseen. Her shinobi sandals are standard issue, painted black to go with the rest of her kimono.
When at home in her cell at Otogakure, Keisei will remove her shinobi sandals as well as take off her top kimono, preferring to walk around barefoot and in her underlying juban. The white kimono's material is thin, which serves to keep her relatively cool. When she needs to go out into town or another place such as around Otogakure no Sato's halls, she will either re-don her kimono, or put on a garment that is very similar to a fuzzy bath robe in design.

History:* Life was always difficult in the lower countries, the ones without a strong military to either gain them more land or power or the ones with rulers too weak to do anything worthwhile. Ta no Kuni was no exception to this, rather the best example of this sad truth in the world. Although the tides of leadership changed, wars came and went as did peace, the land never seemed to be doing anything more than shrinking in to the bottomless void that was forgotten history. One of the most proud clans in the land of Rice, the Fuuma clan, had diminished so badly that many of them now lived in terrible conditions and slums. The clan was a former shell of what it once was, a dead and decaying husk that would soon finally return to the earth, it existance only recognized by historians. The few that were left settled down in villages around what many in the country called the 'main ring', a small ring of fertile land around Otogakure no Sato which offered little work for both farmers and shinobi. Still, because of the hard times placed on the land, any work was good work. This is where Keisei's own tale began, her own life now anchored to the fate and destiny of the village she was to serve.
Born on a cold, moonless night in a small ramshackle hut on the outskirts of the main ring, Keisei was brought in to the world with little complications and in perfect health. Her birth was done naturally, and after being cleaned up and handed to her mother, Fumma Matsuko, she smiled for the first time. Her father, Fuuma Torasano, was overjoyed that his daughter had successfully joined the family, although in the back of his mind he had hoped for a son rather than a daughter. Still, he was happy to have a child, and swore an oath on the spot that he would make sure that Keisei would have a good life. Sadly, he would not be able to hold his oath. A short time later, Keisei's father perished in combat. His body was never released, although a memorial was still placed by Matsuko on a hill that branched out from a rice paddy near their home. Keisei was only about 4 when this event occurred, and had no real grasp of what death was, nor did she realize the hardship that both she and her mother must now face. Her father, Torasano, was a shinobi who served under the current Otokage of that time as a soldier, using the money he got from the job to scarcely allow his family to get by. Now that Torasano was deceased, no money was being brought to the table. Matsuko, although young in years, had been rendered nearly elderly in body. She had also been forced to work most of her life in the rice fields, attempting to do the best she could to help her own past family get by as well. With Keisei being too young to work, and the crops from the rice fields appearing to be in the worst state in over a hundred years, Matsuko had no choice but to move to an alternative method of cash. Taking Keisei and a few belongings, she sold their driftwood hut and rice plot for a small amount of money, and left to work at a bathhouse located near the town. There, both Keisei and her mother Matsuko received shelter, in exchange for the both of them working full time at the bath house for a very small amount of pay, only enough to barely get by each month.
It was here that Keisei began to take her first steps on what would be a long journey. Because Matsuko could not possibly manage all the work alone, Keisei was forced to work alongside her, dealing with the customers of the bathhouse. She was mostly tasked to the menial chores around the place of business at first, tending to the waters and other transporting requests. It was also during this time that she developed a strange habit that would later go on to become the foundation of her abilities, as well as the core of her soul. She began to hum while working, a soft and simple tune that seemed already embedded in her mind upon birth. Over time, the humming slowly became more complex, then began forming in to words and finally in to a full song. The longer she sang, the more doors opened inside her mind, seeming to unlock even more tunes to hum and practice while working. It was also during this time that she unknowingly began memorizing and mastering the geisha arts, such as skills with personal hygiene and ways to mix certain herbs to create beauty affecting salves and ointments. Her skill slowly became greater and greater until she could seemingly make lotions, shampoos, and other appearance enhancing liquids with ease. Her voice also became more and more advanced, and was remarked to have a strange quality about it. Some were even lulled to sleep by her gentle singing, many without even realizing that they had been knocked out cold until woken up and informed hours later. Keisei's voice had become legendary before she even left for Otogakure at the age of 9. Later, on her 8th birthday, something tragic befell Keisei's family yet again. This time, however, she was old enough to feel the gut wrenching pain of losing a loved one, her last at that. Her mother was among a few other bathhouse attendants murdered by a customer who didn't want to pay. The murderer fled from the bathhouse, but was stopped and killed by a group of Sound Soldiers who just happened to come back from drinking. Keisei was heartbroken. The last pillar that had held up her life crumbled into dust at her feet, shattering into a thousand miserable pieces.
Keisei felt many emotions at once during this time. Anger, Hate, Sadness, Misery, Grief, all of these things are facets that affected her being after her mother's burial. However, Keisei did not have time to finish grieving. With her mother dead, Keisei was unable to do the full amount of work that before would reward enough money to last until the month's end. Although her voice was a prime attraction for customers, the owner valued workers that could quickly accomplish their tasks more than for their abilities. He saw this as the best way to keep cash flowing in to his pocket at the fastest rate possible. With her spirit crushed, and her inability to match her own mother's workload, Keisei was unable to provide for herself after the weeks began passing. Eventually, the owner cut her from the bathhouse employment list, and yet again, just like what happened when her father died, she was left without a mode of support to keep her alive. She desperately searched for a job and help in order to keep herself alive, but because of her young age, she received neither. Most saw her as just yet another kid that would soon be dead on the streets, like many others who sat there now, in the same situation. She was beginning to fade fast, long having been at her limit. She was exhausted, and hadn't eaten in many days. She was running out of options as well, left with a very difficult choice. She could choose to stay out on the street, and perish as just another orphan, eventually starving to death and left to be consumed by the rats, or look towards a very risky career. She could attempt to sign up in Otogakure no Sato and receive training as a shinobi, a career which could possibly allow for her to be able to provide for herself for the rest of her life. It was a risky gamble though, as she could be turned into yet another experiment at the hands of the Village's scientists, or be killed in battle like her father was. Looking at the choices, and after much though, she approached dark entrance to the village of Otogakure no Sato, staring in to the gaping maw of Hell that stood before her.
Surprisingly, she was given a almost special welcome. Within a few hours of wandering in to the city, she was led by a guard to a large cell and placed inside. Inside the cell was another metal door to the right which lead to a bath tub, a desk at front to hold any knick nacks or other items she might have, and to the left a bed with a cotton quilt. She was told the room would be hers now for as long as she stayed their, and that she could do what she wished with it so long as it was done with her money. She was also told she would be admitted to the Training program soon, where she would learn the skills of a standard Sound shinobi and go off to hopefully become a soldier. Provided with 3 meals a day, an accessible shower from her cell, a warm bed to sleep in, and lastly a roof over her head, Keisei could do little to complain. She breezed through her days in the Academy, graduating early and recently at the age of 12. She was remarked to have exceptional Genjutsu abilities by her teachers, and was marked as having 'A lot of potential, but too little conviction'. Before even being assigned a master, she was sent on several missions, earning an okay amount of cash which she used to purchase food, new clothing, and set up a kind of storage system in case things with money got tight. She was informed by a superior that she would be paid instead of being provided services now, and that she could do whatever she wished with the money. Save for the little bit left over after paying for food, occasional outfits, and other services she required, Keisei stayed mostly pennyless. She had been told that she may be assigned a higher position later down the road, and eagerly awaited the appointment of a job or master since becoming a full fledged Sound Shinobi.
